We are dealing with various topics in the field of control and system engineering of power plants. Not only are the dynamics of a boiler, T/G and power plants our active R&D areas, but also the optimization of control logic and parameters are our another interesting topics. We have developed several kinds of simulation codes and models for thermal and desalination power plants. Those are still being updated. The other important research topic is, in nature for us, the NSSS control and protection systems.
 
Objective of research on vibration and noise is not only to guarantee the reliability of machineries and structures but also to improve the dynamic performance of those. Furthermore, the state-of-the-art technology of vibration and noise is well developed from analysis to diagnosis. Now, we are developing a VMS for thermal power plants. The anti-vibration and anti-noise control technologies will be our near future research topics.
 
The life assessment and performance evaluation of aged power plants is our another important research branch. We have developed a lot of integrated and reliable computer codes for the purpose. Based on the lots of experiences, we can show a way to our customers to extend the life and improve the performance of their aged plants.
 
Finally, we use several commercial finite element codes to solve the non-linear structural problems such as contact, buckling, thermo-elasto-plastic with phase transformation, plastic forming processes and so on. Some special purpose routines including pre- and post processing are developed to improve the accuracy and efficiency. Dynamic behavior and safety analysis of the structures under earthquakes is also intensively investigated, particularly for the nuclear power plants. For the reliability and verification of the solutions, all kinds of possible test and field data are adopted. We still try to improve the accuracy of our solutions and techniques.
