A condenser is a device that condenses
the vapor generator by turbines and improves the turbine efficiency
by maximizing the temperature drop, and feedwater system supplies
the coolant necessary for condensation. The water pump consists
of an intaker facility and CWP (Condenser Water Pump). When
a desalination plant is located inland, or |
when it¡¯s impossible to use seawater as coolant, a
cooling tower using desalinated water is provided instead
of the intaker facility.
Seawater may contain all sorts of insoluble solids such
as vinyl bags, fishhooks, wood pieces and other waste
materials, which can damage the condenser and cause
an overall malfunction of the plant. Thus, the feedwater
system works to filter such debris. TWS/TRR is an essential
part of a power or desalination plant, and is primarily
charged with removing trash from the feedwater. Doosan
designs and manufactures control panels for the automatic
operation of TWS/TRR, featuring different operation
modes including: periodic operation with a timer, automatic
operation with a hydrograph and manual operation. |

Structure and Characteristics |
| ¢¹ TRR (Trash Rack
Rake) |
| |
• Local Control Panel: LCP has built-in parts
necessary for activating the trash rake.
• Local Control Console: LCC consists of
the switches and signal lamps necessary
for controlling the Trash Rake. |
| |
|
| ¢¹ TWS (TRAVELLING
WATER SCREEN) |
| |
• TWS Control Panel Ultrasonic: The control
panel performs all manual and automatic operations
of TWS, including the level control system.
The control panel has operation switches and status
lamps, as well as the ollowing DCS status
signals: |
| |
- TWS Movement (High Speed, Low Speed,
Stop)
- TWS Overload
- MOV Open, Close
- MOV Overload
- Water Level: High
- Water Level: High Signal |

• LOCAL CONTROL STATION: LCS consists of switches
and lamps for the manual control of TWS and
MOV around TWS. LCS is not used in normal
operation, but is a key element during maintenance and
repair. • Ultrasonic Sensor: The ultrasonic
sensor measures the water level on both sides
of TWS, the seaside (front side) and the interior (rear
side), and mechanically starts the automatic
operation of TWS when the water level reaches
a certain point. The control panel can be custom ordered
in an indoor/outdoor type, console type,
self-standing type, and with PLC control
or relay control. As the sensor uses an ultrasonic transmitter
to measure the water level difference at
the strainer section, it features long system life and
low maintenance costs. |

|
| ¢¹ SWP (Screen Wash Pump) |
| |
• Local Control Panel: An LCP is designed to
control three screen wash pumps,
while automatically managing the number of pumps
in operation according to
the wash water pressure. It consists of those
switches and signal lamps
necessary for operation, as well as the following
DCS status signals: |
| |
- Pump Start, Stop
- Motor Overload
- ST-BY (Stand-By) Pump Stop
- Differential Pressure High Signal (Filter) |
|
| |
• Pressure Switch: This switch senses the pressure
of the Wash Water Line,
and a sensor signal is used to manage the number
of pumps in operation |
